Recreation Dallas is seeking a Video Editing Intern to join our intern class of 2024.

Recreation is an award-winning, growing, digital-first creative ad agency of 13 people sandwiched between Deep Ellum and Exposition Park in Dallas, Texas. We call our work Performance Creative because every piece of work from our shop is expected to provide a return on investment. Recreation’s motto: Play to Win. We strive to meet and exceed any client’s needs by doing work that works (those clients range from national to regional, involving things like pizza, ice cream, puppies, diamonds, wine, basketball, and airplanes).

You are a graduating college senior or recent graduate, rooted in fields like graphic design, digital media, film production, visual arts, or any related discipline, standing on the cusp of transforming your academic groundwork into professional triumph.

  • Curricular, extracurricular, or professional experience as a video editor with adept editing ability.
  • Knowledge of editing for multiple social media platforms
  • Experience with digital technology and Adobe Suite software package (Premiere, After Effects)
  • *Bonus*
    • Experience with online editing tools for social media content (Capcut, Canva, RunwayML, etc).
  • Thorough knowledge of motivation, timing, and continuity
  • Familiarity with special effects, 3D, text editing, and compositing

// tasks you'll tackle

  • Assist with a brief to grasp the production team’s needs and specifications
  • Review shooting script and raw material to assist with a shot decision list based on scenes’ value and contribution to continuity
  • Create rough and final cuts
  • Ensure logical sequencing and smooth running
  • Consult with stakeholders from production to post-production process
  • Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry’s best practices to maximize efficiency.

    • Cutting and Arranging Footage
    • Basic Color Correction
    • Audio Editing
    • Graphics and Effects
    • Quality Control
    • Feedback Incorporation
    • File Export and Delivery
    • Stay Updated on Industry Trends
    • Handle Multiple Projects
    • Participate Professional Development
    • Communicate effectively with team members to understand project requirements.
    • Provide updates on progress and address any challenges encountered during the editing process.

  • Be available for 30 hours/week

  • Potentially consider the option to extend full-time once school is complete.
